Overview
EcoLife is a speculative design passion project, a new system aided with a mobile app to motivate individuals in the society to live a green life by completing green tasks.
Humans are gifted with high level of intelligence and compassion, which entitle us the power to design a sustainable future. The goal is to design an agency that is powerful enough to incentivize and motivate people to convert themselves into living green lifestyles.
-
People are not critically aware of or care about the environmental conditions
-
Lack of incentives to motivate people to perform green tasks
-
Lack of resources for low-income people to participate in the act of saving the environment
Problems

Ideation
At the ideation phase, I sought ways to enforce mandatory green tasks that would also benefit the low income community. The solution of this would be enabling a coin system to allow people assign tasks to low income people, called Green Coin.
I designed a new living system and application called EcoLife, to promote green lifestyle by motivating each individual in the society to live green by completing green tasks. Such system improves the Anthropocene and prevents problems such as poverty and unemployment by the complementary value of the EcoLife system.
EcoLife is consisted of two systems:
Solution

Green Units and Green Coins can both be earned through sustainable actions. The tasks are usually specific to the context. There are activities varying from the short-term tasks which you could complete in minutes or a couple hours, such as eating a meat-free meal, biking or taking public transportation for commuting.
There will also be tasks that may require a longer commitment or time to complete through several days, eg. collecting a certain number of waste or plastic bottles, physical activities like planting trees, and more.
Except for qualified low income people or people with disability, any financially independent person is responsible for completing 50 Green Units per week. Any Units earned beyond the completion of 50 Units will be converted to Green Coins which can be used as real money (1 unit = 1 dollar).

Conclusion

EcoLife is a speculative social system of what I believe a future with a good Anthropocene should implement in the society. It is a social movement, a new way of living that has the power to change the world and awaken the our awareness towards environmental problems.
